You seriously haven't played L4D1 yet?
You are only buying it now because it's $15 off steam?
People, I think we've found a bigger jew than Mareg.
Although, if you're playing when I get home from work, I'll jump in for a game or two with you.
Also, if you wanted to try out champions online, and are prepared to download the client, you can use my account one night. Most preferably in the next few days, cuz I'm stuck at work all night.
Though, if you do want to try it out, I'd set aside a good hour or two on character creation alone.

I don't know if I have the cajones to ball up for another MMO right now.
No it's not $15 off, it's $15 total, as in full price = $14.99.
It usually sells on Steam for $40 and retails around here for $50.
I'd wanted to give it a look, but never wanted to pay full price for it with the new one coming out soon. For $15 can't go wrong.

Yeah, I meant that you could get it off steam for $15 bucks.
And I dunno. Now that I've gotten used to the stats system, I'm kinda really enjoying Champions as a casual mmo. The pve quests are actually pretty fun, because combat is dynamic, and because you can pick and choose your own abilities, from travel powers, and defense, to damage.
I think the biggest draw it has for me at the moment, is the $200 lifetime membership thingy. So if I like it enough at endgame, I'm just going to throw down the $200 bucks, and then go back to it whenever I want, no questions asked. No subscriptions required anymore.
So I mean, if you're ever bored, I'll give you my account details, so you can rock it out and try it.
I know the day will never come, but I'd love to rock into the battlegrounds with a premade and absolutely roflstomp everything.
Oh, that's the other fun thing. At level 20, there's a free for all battleground. Fun as fuck. The funest thing at the moment for me is teaming up with a dood, to kill another dood, then picking up a street light, and throwing it at them as a form of thanks.

What is the combat like? Is it like punch-em-up action type stuff or turn based or what?

I'd describe it as more the punch 'em up action game type of thing, with a normal mmo sort of twist.
It's like a console game, with an action bar.
Pretty much all the abilities are instants, and very few have cooldowns. There's no such thing as global cooldowns either, to my knowledge.
Given that it's like a console game, I know it sounds like a turn off, but it's surprisingly fun to play with everything instant like that. It throws tactics, and positions, fairly out the window except for instant lucky on the spot circumstances, and you play the game from the seat of your pants, as it were.
Seriously, if you'd like to give it a try after you're finished with l4d, I really don't mind giving you my account details, so you can screw around with it while I'm at work. I want to see you guys find it as fun as I do.
