you should be able to play the beta on steam i think i t is a 600 meg download or so

I can see how you could get lost in the second game but the first is fairly linear and small. I recommend stacking your Speed (whatever they call it that gives you action points) and Strength (so you can wear power armor later in the game) in that order. You have the main quest to find the water chip for your vault, but the game is made up mostly of side quests. There's very little punishment in game for whatever you do, though killing a vendor will keep you from buying from them for example.
I think your PIP Boy keeps track of what you need to do on your main quest, so use that.
The first game is easily finished in a weekend. After playing through that, the 2nd one should seem more familiar and easy. It's a fuckton bigger, though, so enjoy.

been playing WOTLK for since thursday....... totally fkn sweet, and havent even got out of borean tundra yet. also rolled a DK and he is nearly 59 now and the beginner quests are totally tits. less WoW bashing more xpac buying imo

WOW, the old ass game worthy of a "banging new rig."
Exactly what is sweet about expac? It looked like shit pre launch, almost no one in beta had anything good to say about it.

What do you mean?
You don't know where to go in the game, or you don't understand how to play it?
The interface is a little mystifying at first, but once you understand it, it's alright. There aren't really any other games like it, which can make it very hard to get used to as well. The slow pace, and focus on speech, big choices, lack of railroading, difficult combat at the start make it hard to get into.
If you need more help with whatever, like making a good char, stats to take or how to fite fite well, I can go into more details.
I think Fallout 2 is the only game where you can have a gay wedding and then sell him to slavers. CHOICES!
I prefer Fallout 2, even though most people say Fallout 1 is the better game. I agree it's tighter, and more polished, but I find F2 is just way more fun.
