Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 Guild System

The new Battle.net is a full-featured online game service designed specifically around Blizzard Entertainment titles, and will include a complete set of around-the-game features including a state-of-the-art matchmaking system, achievement system, social networking features, structured competitive play options, a marketplace, and much more.
1) It will be easier to link up with friends playing different games (Warcraft/Starcraft/Diablo).
2) It will be easier to socialize between games (like Steam I would guess).
3) It will be easier for Blizzard to utilize any personal information you put forth to sell things to you and make money.
I wouldn't expect much more than those 3 basic tenets.

I just think guilds ruin the game.
I mean I made Immune, and all the iterations before it, because it broke all the rules of guilds within the "walls" of our guild, but in the end you can't get away from guild culture.
Basically people are really gay. Guilds turn a game into something where people are more worried about their image on the forums, and which "tag" they are associated with, than having fun at the game.
And guilds create an enormous amount of responsbility for the one or two people that keep them together. Everyone else is kind of along for the ride, and gets to enjoy the benefits. In real life this person (the ceo) is often compensated for his trouble. In a game, there is nothing.
And people make it into this competitive, nose in the air fucking thing. WELL SIR, I AM IN VICIOUS CYCLE (sorry healadin), FAR BE IT FROM ME TO SPEAK TO ONE SUCH AS YOU.

Not gonna lie in the golden age of Immune I was definitely that arrogant to people. But I see your point, it's more fun to just have a group of friends playing together than having to try to force organization on a group of players who are by nature lazy and not good with commitment. I think that the time when Immune started its downhill slide was around the time we were all forced to face the fact that we would have to do PvE in order to keep having fun doing PvP, because that was the point at which we were no longer 10-15 guys just rolling out to have fun, but 10-15 guys trying to organize and keep happy 40-man groups around schedules and all sorts of other crap. Bullshit ensued. So I am with Chip, the guild thing doesn't sound OK to me.

I completly understand callys point regarding guilds, but his point is related to a wow guild, or some other MMO whatever guild. When you talk about an SC guild is completely different.
I was talking to some friends that played SC with me (like seriously 12 years ago) that i still have contact with. And we would like to get some of the group, more or less like 10 people using the same tag on a BR server. We are not worried about how hardcore people will be playing, we just want to get everyone playing under the same name like we used to. (I have about the same amount of hours played of SC as I have in WoW, which is a lot)
I really dont beleive this group of people, or immune members, have the time and guts to be hardcore on anything ever again.

<Vicious Cycle> Calllys the level 1 dwarf alt had more glory than that guy

I did a really small research to see how the Guild System is gonna work on these games, since there was absolutely nothing of that kind on the sc and d2.
