qft. Nothing more fun than being able to design your own class.

Bioware makes pretty damn good games, though, and while it's all still bullshitting without a final product in hand, many aspects of this game seem almost orthogonal to most other MMOs. Lead writer Daniel Erickson claims that:

You will never in the game go into a cantina and poke a random person to see if you can solve their problems and they'll give you money. You will never have some stranger on the street ask you to save their cat. You do large, heroic things. I always tell people that we have to keep pushing forward. The level of writing and quest building that was acceptable in KOTOR would absolutely not be acceptable now.

But then he says:

Mass Effect came out and absolutely set a new bar for this. We're coming out and saying we can push that even further

Which sounds pretty weak to me, honestly. KOTOR and Mass Effect were both awesome games, but in reality, were the side-quests all that much different, aside from the contrived stories behind them? It's been awhile since I've played either, but the side quests for either felt like an obligation to get more money or exp. It seems like he thinks the only reason why quests are boring is because they don't stroke one's e-peen furiously enough, rather than the fact that they're all variations of the same 3 kill/collect/deliver archetypes.

We'll see, I guess. Quote

so instead of COLLECT 12 PINECONES FOR MY KITTY TO PLAY WITH you will COLLECT 12 ANCIENT JEDI ARTIFACTS FOR THE JEDI ACADEMY TO DISPLAY IN ITS HALLS Quote

Actually... yeah, that sounds like it sums up their attitude pretty well.

Also... jedi artifacts are called HOLOCRONS..... LOSER Quote

Girls aren't allowed to like Star Wars so you have to come to terms with the enormous sacrifice you have made in that department Quote

Is that why there are so many fat hairy guys cosplaying in princess leia metal bikinis? Quote

That is a sacrifice with which we have come to terms. Sounds like SOMEONE wants to have their cock and eat it too. Quote

Big no on the having, big yes on the eating. Quote
